The following questions can be used as examples of the likely (non-technical) questions that you will be asked when in an interview. It is advised that you have at the very least a good idea of how you will answer many of them.

  •     Refresh my memory... what do you know about this company?

  •     What do you find most attractive about this position? What seems least attractive

        about it?

  •     Tell me about yourself?

  •     Take me through... in detail what you know about our industry

  •     Why should I hire you? What skills do you have that would benefit our company

  •     What is your long-range objective? Where do you want to be 5 or 10 years from now?

  •     What types of work environment do you like best?

  •     How has your education prepared you for your career?

  •     How do you handle pressure and stress?

  •     Are you a team player?

  •     Have you ever had a conflict with a boss? How was it resolved?

  •     What is your greatest weakness?

  •     What is your greatest strength?

  •     What can you do for us that someone else can’t?

  •     How do you deal with criticism?

  •     How do you deal with authority?

  •     What do you think of your previous manager?

  •     Explain how you overcame a major obstacle?

  •     What past accomplishments gave you satisfaction?

  •     What is the riskiest thing you have ever done?

  •     If I were to ask your teachers to describe you, what would they say?

  •     Which adjectives would you use to describe yourself?

  •     Who would you never use as a reference?

  •     What qualities do you feel a successful manager should have?
